Give Yourself The Cold Shoulder

Haux haux Kambo Warrior! It's Jon here for Planet Kambo, things are getting a bit colder here in the UK, hence I've got my hat on. I've got the heating on but its first thing in the morning and it's still pretty cold in the house so I've got the hat on. What I want to talk about in today's video is cold showers.

Now this is something that I've done in the past, I hadn't done them for ages for years and I've recently started doing them again and I have to say I'm really, really liking them, in this video I'm not going to get bogged down in the science of it, you can google it yourself. If your Google "benefits of cold showers" there's a million different websites with all the different benefits, everything from increasing circulation, to lowering stress to increasing alertness to improving the immune system but what I'm going to talk about in this video is just how it makes me feel.

It really wakes me up! I feel great! It's strange but when you're in the cold shower and you're freezing cold, when you come out you feel warm. It's because you've sort of reduced your body temperature so the ambient air actually feels warmer. What I've been doing is I started at 30 seconds and then everyday I've been increasing the time that I spend in the cold by 15 seconds. So I have my shower as normal in the morning, I have a hot shower and then at the end I switch it to cold and I start timing. I'm up to 165 seconds now so that's two minutes 45 seconds and I'm going to try and get keep going until I get to five minutes and I know from having done these in the past that once you start getting into the longer times that's when you really start to feel the benefits.

Another thing you could do is an ice bath but in my flat where I live here I don't have a bath so I can't do it but again I have done these before in the winter, the water is freezing cold so you don't even need ice you can just use cold water from your shower or your

bath, it's cold enough. In the summer it's harder to get the water cold enough to really get the

benefits of the cold but at the moment it's late October and things in the UK are pretty damn cold.

I've just had my cold shower and I feel great. I'm alert, I feel raring to go it's almost like having a cup of coffee and I don't drink coffee anymore caffeine does not make me feel good but it's a shock. It's uncomfortable at first but you do get used to it and it's weird but

now I actually look forward to it when I wake up and I'm laying in bed I know I'm not going to feel right unless I've had my cold shower.

So I'd advise you to try, it's unpleasant at first, you know the first couple of times

you do it you're not going to like it but it grows on you and then actually it becomes something that you look forward to because it makes you feel really good.

Before I go, there's a guy called Wim Hof, I'm sure a lot of you have heard of him he's big into the cold thing. It's called the wim HOF method, it's a breathing technique and also he's really

into ice baths and cold showers, you can check him out but there is a lot of science behind it about the benefits of cold and what it can do for you so check out Wim Hof and try yourself some cold ice baths or cold showers.

I'll see you in the next video.

Jon
