Kambo is a powerful medicine, there’s no doubt about that. But as the saying goes, “With great power comes great responsibility”. So in real terms, with that power comes the fact that Kambo is not suitable for everyone. In this article we’re going to look more closely at who can and can’t do Kambo.
Kambo is a strong vasodilator and causes changes in blood pressure and heart rate and for that reason there are some serious contraindications. Kambo is also quite an intense physical experience and for some who are in a particularly weak state Kambo will not be suitable.
As long as there are no contraindications, Kambo is perfectly safe as long as it is administered correctly by a skilled practitioner.
Listed below are the main contraindications for Kambo.
This is the main contraindication for Kambo. Any serious heart condition is a BIG no-no. This includes implants such as pacemakers. If doing a serious cardio workout and having your heart race would be a problem for you then I’m afraid Kambo is not for you.
Under no circumstances should Kambo be used during pregnancy. Kambo can act as an abortant and cause a painful miscarriage.
Kambo is also not suitable for anyone undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Unfortunately when undergoing these aggressive treatments the body is simply too weak to undergo a Kambo treatment. On the contrary, Kambo treatments would be advisable before the therapy begins and also once the therapy has ceased to empower and strengthen the entire body and immune system.
Kambo should not be given to anyone under the age of 18. In the west this is the general age of consent for most practices of this kind. Making sure the person is responsible enough to take the decision to undergo a Kambo treatment is paramount.
Similarly anyone who’s not mentally able to make a responsible decision to take Kambo should also be excluded. This would include anyone with mental or physical illnesses that impairs their cognitive abilities to such an extent that they would not be responsible enough to make this decision.
Kambo should not be given to anyone who has a history of serious mental illness. This excludes anxiety, depression and PTSD. Examples of serious mental illness would be a history of psychosis or psychotic episodes and disorders such as mania and schizophrenia.
Kambo can cause a drop in blood pressure so anyone who has a serious low blood pressure issue should be excluded. This would usually be someone who is taking a medication for their blood pressure. Mild low blood pressure is not an issue.
Medications are a gray area when it comes to Kambo. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to medications. Most medications are safe to combine but it really needs to be assessed on a case-by-case basis by a skilled practitioner. When patients are on multiple medications simultaneously more care should be taken.
As Kambo causes a drop in blood pressure and a racing heart rate anyone who has had blood clots, a stroke or an aneurysm should be excluded from taking Kambo. This can also be assessed on a case-by-case basis but as a general rule these conditions are a contraindication.
The risk of having an epileptic seizure during a kambo process would exclude anyone who has severe epilepsy from taking Kambo.
Anyone recovering from major surgery or who has internal or external wounds that are still healing should not receive Kambo. As Kambo causes blood pressure changes and affects the blood flow there could be a risk of rupturing wounds and internal bleeding.
As kambo empowers the immune system, anyone who has had an organ transplant and is taking immunosuppressant drugs is contraindicated for kambo. Kambo would work against the medication and could cause the body to reject the organ.
As long as these issues don't apply to you then it should be perfectly safe for you to take Kambo but you should always consult with a skilled practitioner who includes a screening process to make absolutely sure that Kambo is safe for their clients.
Aho!
